Grade 9 student Paula Schaefer is mad about Marvin in more ways than one. One minute she hopes that Marvin will finally notice her, but the next minute she is doing everything she can to avoid him. When her mother breaks her New Year's resolution to not freak out, she sets off a disastrous chain of events. Paula's whole family is dragged into a hilarious but sometimes terrifying situation, and like it or not, Paula and Marvin find themselves much closer than either of them ever imagined.
