An Immigrant's Tale

Ingrid is only fourteen years old when she it torn away from all that is familiar to her when her father chooses to emigrate to Canada in 1910. Ingrid is frightened at the prospect of having to learn a new language, pines for her friend left behind and has to cope with two undesirable suitors. Ingrid's story is typical of many pioneers who settled western Canada as it is filled with hard work, disappointment and heartbreak.

Much of this story takes place with World War I looming in the background and the great War has its effect on both Ingrid and her neighbours.
